IB Middle and High School Visual Arts Teacher

We are seeking a creative and experienced educator to teach Visual Arts across the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the IB Diploma Programme (DP). This role provides the opportunity to foster creativity, visual literacy, and critical inquiry through studio-based and conceptual learning. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development, mentor students on IB projects, and support interdisciplinary collaborations and school-wide exhibitions.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instruction
• Design and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons aligned with IB MYP and DP Visual Arts frameworks.
• Integrate interdisciplinary themes, contemporary art practices, and global perspectives into lessons.
• Incorporate diverse artistic traditions, media, and cultural perspectives to enrich learning experiences.
Planning and Collaboration
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support interdisciplinary art projects and exhibitions.
• Develop lesson plans and resources that meet the needs of diverse learners, promoting equity and inclusivity.
• Assist in organizing school-wide exhibitions and events that celebrate student creativity and cultural diversity.
Assessment and Feedback
• Use formative and summative assessments aligned with IB MYP and DP criteria to evaluate artistic growth and conceptual understanding.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and leadership.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and prepare detailed progress reports as required.
Resource and Studio Management
• Maintain and organize art studio resources, materials, and equipment to support effective instruction.
• Collaborate with school leadership to secure funding for art supplies, studio maintenance, and interdisciplinary projects.
Professional Development and Engagement
• Lead or participate in professional development sessions related to IB Visual Arts and contemporary art education.
• Attend and contribute to MYP/DP team meetings, grade-level planning sessions, and professional learning communities.
• Pursue continuous professional growth in artistic practice, visual pedagogy, and inquiry-based teaching.
Communication and Leadership
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders about exhibitions, curriculum updates, and student progress.
• Prepare visual content for newsletters, exhibitions, and digital platforms to highlight student achievements.
• Promote global citizenship by fostering appreciation for diverse artistic expressions and creative inquiry.
• Organize exhibitions, artist talks, and collaborative projects that celebrate artistic diversity and student voice.
Student Support and Safety
• Create a safe and inclusive studio environment that encourages creative risk-taking and well-being.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners with varying levels of artistic experience.
Additional Responsibilities
• Supervise at least one after-school art club or activity.
• Chaperone one after-school event (e.g., exhibition opening, school social).
• Assist with school day duties, including break and lunchtime supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Middle/High School Principal.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Visual Arts, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Valid teaching credential/certificate in Visual Arts.
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, preferably in an IB International School setting.
• Experience teaching Visual Arts in IB MYP and DP frameworks is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of studio-based and conceptual learning strategies.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a multicultural, international environment.
