The International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme

At M’KIS, the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) provides an inquiry-based education for students aged 3 to 12, nurturing the whole child as an active, caring, and lifelong learner. Students take ownership of their learning while developing knowledge, skills, positive attitudes, and international-mindedness. Through meaningful local and global themes, the PYP supports academic, social, and emotional growth while encouraging students to take meaningful action. In their final year, students complete the PYP Exhibition (PYPX), an extended collaborative inquiry into real-world issues. PYPX allows students to apply their learning, work together, take action, and showcase the skills they have developed throughout their PYP journey.

At M’KIS, the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) provides a rigorous, inquiry-based education for students aged 11 to 16, connecting learning to real-world experiences. The MYP develops the whole student through eight subject groups while nurturing intellectual, social, emotional, and physical wellbeing. Students explore big ideas, develop critical thinking and learning skills, and apply their knowledge through meaningful action and community service. In Grade 10, students complete the MYP Personal Project, an independent exploration of a topic connected to their personal interests and a global context. Through inquiry, action, and reflection, students develop independence, responsibility, and skills that prepare them for the IB Diploma Programme and success beyond school.

At M’KIS, the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) offers Grade 11 and 12 students a challenging, well-rounded two-year pre-university education designed to prepare them for university and life beyond school. Students develop academic knowledge, critical thinking, inquiry, reflection, and international-mindedness through a broad selection of subjects. The programme also includes three core components: Theory of Knowledge (ToK), which encourages students to explore how we know what we know; the Extended Essay (EE), an independent research project; and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), which encourages personal growth through meaningful experiences and community engagement. Together, these elements help students become independent, reflective, and globally minded learners ready to pursue their goals beyond M’KIS.

Why Choose M'KIS?

“We went school shopping in KL but none suited us. We were in tears for the first 10 days in KL, heartbroken at the thought that my wife and children would be forced to go back to Italy.

But when we walked through the gates of M'KIS, it was so welcoming; it felt like home! Everything that we looked for, we found here.

My kids love their school, the dynamic teachers, their multinational friends and the great community. Their English has improved tremendously too.

This overseas experience is all that we could have wished for. From the bottom of my heart: So grateful. Thank you, M'KIS.”

Francesco Burgio (father of Giulia & Andrea)

Students in our Pre-K3 do not have a formal assessment. Students in Pre-K4 & Kindergarten have a brief developmentally appropriate assessment. All students in Grade 1 and above sit an admissions assessment where reading, writing, and math is assessed. For those students still in the process of acquiring English, an English as an Additional Language (EAL) assessment is also given. English as an Additional Language (EAL) support is available up until Grade Ten for those students still in the process of acquiring English.

Prospective students for our Pre-K3, Pre-K4 and Kindergarten classes have a brief developmentally appropriate/school readiness assessment.
