IB Early Childhood Homeroom Teacher (IB PYP)

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic educator to lead an Early Childhood homeroom in the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). This role provides the opportunity to foster students’ academic, social, and emotional development through an inquiry-based and play-based approach to learning. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to design meaningful learning experiences, create a supportive classroom environment, and contribute to the school’s Early Childhood program.
 

Key Responsibilities

 

Curriculum and Instruction

 • Plan and deliver engaging, play-based lessons aligned with IB PYP and American curriculum standards.

 • Integrate transdisciplinary themes to connect learning with real-world applications.

 • Incorporate hands-on, age-appropriate activities that promote exploration, creativity, and critical thinking.

 • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including those with varying abilities and special educational needs.
 

Planning and Collaboration

 • Collaborate with homeroom and specialist teachers to integrate curriculum across subjects.

 • Develop lesson plans and resources that reflect the developmental needs and interests of Early Childhood learners.

 • Contribute to the planning of school-wide events that enhance learning and community engagement.
 

Assessment and Feedback

 • Use formative and summative assessments, including observations and student portfolios, to monitor progress.

 • Maintain accurate records of student development and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and parents.

 • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide reports on student progress as required.
 

Resource and Classroom Management

 • Ensure classroom resources are organized, accessible, and conducive to learning.

 • Collaborate with school leadership to propose and secure resources that enhance teaching and learning.
 

Professional Development and Engagement

 • Lead or participate in professional development focused on Early Childhood education, play-based learning, and IB PYP methodologies.

 • Engage in grade-level and school team meetings, professional learning communities, and collaborative projects.

 • Commit to continuous professional growth and stay informed about innovative teaching strategies for Early Childhood learners.
 

Communication and Leadership

 • Maintain clear communication with students, parents, colleagues, and leadership regarding classroom activities and student progress.

 • Prepare newsletters, presentations, and updates to keep the school community informed and engaged.

 • Foster an inclusive and positive classroom environment through respectful and supportive communication with students.

 

Student Support and Safety

 • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during class, breaks, field trips, and school activities.

 • Implement strategies to support social-emotional development, resilience, and positive peer relationships.

 

Additional Responsibilities

 • Supervise at least two after-school clubs, sports, or activities.

 • Assist with school-day duties, including break and lunchtime supervision.

 

Qualifications

 • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

 • Teaching diploma, certificate, or equivalent qualification.

 • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, preferably in an Early Childhood IB PYP setting.

 • Experience with the IB PYP curriculum is highly desirable; candidates with strong play-based learning experience are encouraged to apply.

 • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

 • Ability to foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
