We are seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to teach mathematics across the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the IB Diploma Programme (DP). This role provides the opportunity to inspire students through inquiry-based, student-centered learning, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application of mathematical concepts. The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development, collaborate with colleagues, and support student growth across the full IB Mathematics program.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instruction
• Design and deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons for IB MYP and IB DP Mathematics courses.
• Incorporate real-world applications, interdisciplinary connections, and cross-curricular themes to enhance understanding.
• Adapt instruction to support diverse learning needs and promote inclusivity.
Planning and Collaboration
• Collaborate with colleagues to refine curriculum materials and interdisciplinary projects aligned with the IB framework.
• Develop lesson plans and resources that cater to varied learning styles and promote active student engagement.
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives celebrating academic achievement and global citizenship.
Assessment and Feedback
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress against IB MYP and DP criteria.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth and preparation for internal and external assessments.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and participate in parent-teacher conferences.
Professional Development and Engagement
• Participate in IB-specific professional development and training.
• Engage in departmental and interdisciplinary team meetings to share strategies and enhance teaching practices.
• Stay current with trends in mathematics education, inquiry-based learning, and IB curriculum developments.
Communication and Leadership
• Maintain clear communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding curriculum, progress, and classroom activities.
• Support student projects, including MYP Personal Projects and DP Internal Assessments, encouraging independent research and critical thinking.
• Foster a classroom environment that values critical inquiry, cultural diversity, and intellectual curiosity.
Student Support and Safety
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with varying mathematical abilities.
Additional Responsibilities
• Supervise at least one after-school club, sport, or activity.
• Chaperone one after-school event (e.g., prom or school socials).
• Assist with daily school duties, including break and lunchtime supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Middle/High School Principal.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, specializing in Mathematics or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Teaching diploma, certificate, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, preferably in IB MYP and DP programmes.
• Strong understanding of IB philosophy and practices for both MYP and DP Mathematics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to fostering a collaborative, student-centered classroom.
