IB Business and Individual and Societies Teacher (IB DP / IB MYP)

Primary Functions
• Provide leadership and organization for the Business Management instructional program within the High School.
• Promote analytical thinking, problem solving, and global understanding through the study of business concepts and real world application.
• Ensure teaching aligns with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme curriculum and philosophy.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Delivery
1. Design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with IB DP Business Management frameworks and IB MYP Individual and Societies objectives.
2. Guide students in applying theories, models, and business tools to real world situations, case studies, and current global issues.
3. Prepare students for all DP assessments, including Internal Assessments and external examination papers in Business Management.
4. Integrate global, ethical, and sustainability themes such as inequality, development, responsible leadership, and environmental impact.
5. Foster curiosity, critical reasoning, financial literacy, and data interpretation skills through inquiry based learning.
Planning and Coordination
6. Develop lesson plans and assessment tasks consistent with DP and MYP standards and learning outcomes.
7. Collaborate with Humanities, Social Sciences, and other DP and MYP teachers to support alignment and interdisciplinary learning.
8. Adapt instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs and cultural backgrounds of students.
9. Contribute to shared resources, case studies, and materials for Business Management and Individual and Societies.
Assessment and Feedback
10. Use DP and MYP assessment criteria for formative and summative evaluations.
11. Provide regular and constructive feedback to support student learning and academic growth.
12. Supervise and guide students completing Internal Assessments in Business Management.
13. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and achievement.
Professional Development and Collaboration
14. Participate in IB DP and MYP training and relevant professional development opportunities.
15. Engage in collaborative planning to strengthen interdisciplinary links with subjects such as Global Politics, Geography, Mathematics, and Language Acquisition.
16. Stay informed about current developments in global business, educational practice, and MYP curriculum approaches.
Communication and Engagement
17. Share curriculum updates, student achievements, and relevant insights through school communication channels.
18. Encourage participation in competitions and enrichment opportunities such as business challenges, investment clubs, or enterprise projects.
Cultural Leadership
19. Promote understanding of global business environments, ethical decision making, and the role of responsible leadership in society.
20. Encourage students to explore socioeconomic issues and global perspectives through business and I and S learning experiences.
Student Support and Classroom Environment
21. Maintain a supportive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that encourages inquiry, discussion, and independent thinking.
22. Encourage engagement with current events and research that strengthen understanding of global contexts in Business Management and I and S.
Additional Duties
• Supervise one after school club or activity such as Business Club, Investment Club, or Debate.
• Chaperone one school event.
• Participate in routine supervision duties as assigned.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Middle and High School Principal.
Qualifications
• Bachelor degree in Business, Economics, or a related field. A Master degree is preferred.
• Teaching diploma, certificate, or an equivalent qualification.
• At least three years of teaching experience, preferably in the IB Diploma Programme and IB MYP.
• Strong understanding of IB DP and MYP assessment requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to link theory to ethical, global, and real world contexts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work positively within a multicultural international school environment.
