IB Middle School and High School Mathematics and Design Teacher (IB MYP)

The school is seeking a reflective and innovative teacher to deliver Mathematics and Design within the Middle Years Programme MYP and high school levels. The successful candidate will foster critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, and real world application through inquiry based, student centered learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
• Teach Mathematics for grades 6 to 10 MYP and assigned high school courses.
• Teach Design as a subject in the MYP, guiding students through the design cycle from problem identification to solution development and evaluation.
• Create engaging, inquiry based lessons that integrate real world applications, interdisciplinary themes, and cross curricular connections.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Curriculum Development and Collaboration
• Collaborate with colleagues to refine curriculum materials and ensure interdisciplinary alignment.
• Develop lesson plans and resources that promote logical reasoning, creativity, prototyping, and reflective practice.
• Contribute to school wide initiatives celebrating innovation, academic achievement, and global citizenship.
Assessment and Feedback
• Utilize formative and summative assessments aligned with IB criteria for Mathematics and Design in the MYP.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student growth and readiness for assessments.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate clearly with families.
Professional Development
• Participate in IB professional development related to Mathematics and Design in the MYP.
• Engage in departmental and interdisciplinary meetings to strengthen teaching and assessment practices.
• Pursue continuous professional growth in mathematics education, design thinking, and inquiry based learning.
Student Support and School Life
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, particularly during hands on design activities.
• Support student projects including the MYP Personal Project and DP Internal Assessments where applicable.
• Contribute to school life through supervision, extracurricular activities, and school events.
Additional Duties
• Supervise at least one after school sport, club, or activity.
• Chaperone one after school event such as prom or school socials.
• Assist with school day duties including break and lunchtime supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Middle and High School Principal.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in Mathematics, Design, Engineering, Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Teaching diploma, certificate, or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of three years teaching experience, preferably in an IB MYP setting.
• Strong understanding of IB philosophy, MYP Mathematics, and Design in the MYP.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to inquiry based, collaborative, and student centered learning.
