Student Leadership Conference 2026: Unity in Motion

By: Erald Vero, Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) Coordinator

The Student Leadership Conference, themed Unity in Motion, was successfully held at Mont’Kiara International School (M’KIS) on March 16, 2026. This milestone event centered on the kinetic energy generated when students move together to solve the community’s most pressing challenges. By turning shared ideas into collective action, participants worked to drive a wave of change that strengthens engagement across our communities. The day challenged students to move with a shared commitment to impact, emphasizing that the scale of a project is secondary to the power of the movement.

“While some are born with innate leadership skills, true leadership is developed over time through a community of support. Our goal prioritized strengthening students' individual skills to build a stronger foundation for all. The conference journey equipped students with the tools to identify and navigate changes with resilience and strategic planning”,” Erald Vero, Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) Coordinator, shared.

The energy of the conference was shaped by the guest speakers who provided a roadmap for modern leadership. Chief of Human Resources at United Nations University, ·Ken Okamoto, delivered a session focusing on the essential leadership process, while East Asia Geounit Digital Manager, Wiwin Yuliana, explored the complexities of leading within a digital and AI-driven world.

Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) students, Zoe and Keshini, also led workshops focused on building impactful project proposals by incorporating their own CAS project experiences into the sessions. These speakers helped students understand that leadership involves the ability to identify shared challenges and organize diverse strengths into a single, and purposeful direction.

Throughout the day, students engaged in a program designed to refine their social impact initiatives. Some of the highlights of the conference incorporated Impact Pitch Circles, where teams presented their projects to receive constructive peer feedback and improve their implementation strategies. Through Synchronized Service, students learned to align their diverse talents to create and implement a collective project within their communities. These intensive workshops allowed participants to practice giving and receiving feedback, ensuring their projects addressed real-world needs with innovative action.

By the close of the event, students left the conference with refined narratives and clear next steps for their "Change Initiatives”. As these young leaders return to their schools, they carry with them the skills to collaborate effectively and the passion to make a meaningful difference in society. The journey has officially begun as they move forward with purpose and a shared vision for the future.
