From 25-27 October, 2024, the M’KIS Homes for Malaysia (H4M) and Epic Homes, a local nonprofit organization partnered to build a house for an Orang Asli family in Bukit Manchong, Selangor.
M’KIS H4M raised money from the Christmas Bazaar and club games for the build. They partnered with Epic Homes to ensure that they had the necessary skills to safely build a high-quality house. Member Vir said: “I would not have been able to go through without the help and organization of Epic homes. The hard work we put into ensuring that the house was good quality…”
After much hard work over the two days, the team successfully presented the keys to the newly built home to a local Orang Asli family!
Member Naledi said, “the idea of constructing a house in just three days seemed daunting at first, but as the project progressed, I saw how much teamwork could accomplish. Watching the structure take shape and knowing it would soon be a home for a family made every challenge worthwhile.”
Plans are already underway to raise money and plan for the next build.
Member Ruben said: “Homes for Malaysia was a beautiful and exciting experience and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to try something new and fall in love with it.” Member Kelsey added: “With the positive impact we made on the world and all the fun we had, I truly wish I had had the opportunity to participate in more builds.”
