SPORTS
ELEMENTARY SWIM TEAM BY TIM GASCOIGNE
The M’KIS Elementary Swim Team is well under way in their season. We formed the Elementary team at the end of August and we selected thirty swimmers from Grade 2 - 5 for our U9 & U11 divisions. These swimmers commit to early Monday morning and Thursday a ernoon prac ces where they train in development of the four strokes and prepare for compe ons against other schools.
The team has come along way since forming and, for some swimmers, this is their rst me being a part of a compe ve sports team. We also have several returning swimmers from previous years. They are having a lot of fun learning how to swim stronger and be a valued member of a team sport. Swimming is very much an individual sport as well as a team sport. Swimmers work toward improving their
overall best mes and aiming for speed and technique while swimming. We have seen great improvement already and it is exci ng to watch the swimmers strive to be be er.
This season we are compe ng against ISP, ISKL, Nexus and ELC and our swim season culminates in ISAC championships at Alice Smith School on Dec. 2nd, 2016. For those swimmers that wish to swim a er the season is nished, the M’KIS Swim Club provides a great opportunity. The swim club swims Wednesday a ernoon and Saturday mornings at the school and is a great way to keep swimming and improving during our o -season.
Thanks for your support and we hope to see you at the pool! Go Tigers!
