INVOLVED CITIZENS DAY For MS And HS Students
Every year, Middle and High School students take part in our Involved Citizens Day (ICD) activities which falls this year on Friday, April 21, 2017.
The overall goals of the MKIS ICD are in line with one of M’KIS Expected School-Wide Learning Results (ESLRs) which is to:
Seek to improve the lives of others in their community
Demonstrate care and concern for their environment
Demonstrate responsibility in active decision making
Interact respectfully with people of diverse cultures
Demonstrate awareness and respect for the rights of others
ICD day is an opportunity for all our students, from Grades 6 – 12 (except MYMUN participants and Gr.12 students) to reach out to the local community through service work. Students will be engaged in various service activities from clearing hiking trails, planning and engaging in educational activities with refugee children, orphans, providing food for the homeless and to caring for animals in animal shelters.
Students have been given important information pertaining to the trips, and a permission slip which they should return, latest by March 22, to the respective teachers leading the specific trips.
As this annual event supports our ESLR - Involved Citizen – as well as our mission statement, we ask parents to support this Day by allowing your child to participate in this special service learning trip.
If you have any questions regarding the Involved Citizens Day, please don’t hesitate to contact Sarasvathy Suppiah (Teacher, MS Malaysian Studies and IB Malay Ab Initio) by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or the respective ICD Trip Leaders.
Thank you for your supporting your child in their endeavors towards achieving this goal.
