Library And Media Literacy
The mission of the Mont’Kiara International School library is to be an integral part of the school curriculum and reflect the needs of the school community and the world in general. The library will provide opportunities for students to achieve the skills and knowledge in the information search process as well as to gain a lifelong interest in reading.
We are living in an information age. A primary objective of education is to learn how to identify, locate, analyze, organize, and share information in a clear, concise, and ethical manner. As technologies change, students need to develop skills to manage complex information formats. The school library program, as an integral part of the total curriculum, is the vehicle that provides opportunities for students to achieve these skills and to foster a lifelong interest in both reading and knowledge. The M’KIS Teacher-Librarians work to collaborate with classroom teachers to provide effective learning opportunities to acquire and practice Information Literacy skills in an authentic context.
