Back to School Parent Night - Middle and High School
Our middle and high school parents were invited for an experiential evening at M'KIS. Parents got to follow their child's schedule, find their classes, and meet their teachers.
Thank you to all of the parents who joined us for this informative and fun evening.
It fills us with a sense of pride when one of our students gets selected to represent Malaysia. Zoe, a grade 12 student, was recently selected to represent Malaysia in the Youth Touch Rugby World Cup in Malaysia. The team played against some of the top rugby playing nations in the world including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United States.
“It was an honor to be selected to represent Malaysia and to play against the best in the world.”
Zoe was introduced to touch rugby in grade 9 by her friends and our long-standing touch rugby coach, Mr. Roderick. After only one season, the rugby bug had bitten and Zoe was hooked for life. Since then, Zoe has been part of a legacy that has won two division one ISAC titles, and a bronze medal in SEASAC division one. Zoe’s hope for this year is to build on these achievements and help lead another M’KIS team to touch rugby success.
Well done, Zoe. The M'KIS Community is very proud of you and we are certain that you will succeed in whatever you put your mind to. Keep pushing forward and crossing that tri-line.
Congratulations - F1 In Schools
Congratulations to the M'KIS team (Team Arrow) on their participation at the F1 in Schools Malaysia competition last Saturday, May 19th, held at Garden International School Malaysia. There were 24 teams competing from 10 different international schools.
“F1 in Schools” is an international STEM competition, in which groups of students have to design and manufacture a miniature car, powered by CO2 cartridges. They are timed from the moment they are launched to when they pass the finish line by a computer.
Their best race time was 1.085 seconds and they were ranked 5th. Not too bad considering this was their first time in the competition. Their car was aerodynamic and well designed, all of which helped attain a quick time. The team has vowed to improve their reaction time (0.181seconds), and hope to beat their own record next year.
In addition to the race itself, teams had to produce a printed Portfolio explaining how the car was designed and tested, prepare a verbal presentation explaining the entire design process, as well as produce a pit display showcasing their works and advertising the team.
This was a long journey for Team Arrow. But it was worth it.
Back to School 2018
On August 7, 2018, we welcome all our students back to school. This was an exciting day for both our students and our faculty. The school has undergone some amazing renovations over the summer and it's great to see everyone's responses to them.
Have a great year M'KIS.
