Teachers are provided with opportunities to attend workshops and conferences, fostering professional growth and skill enhancement. These opportunities offer insights into the latest educational trends and innovations.

The hiring cycle aligns with our academic calendar, with major recruitment taking place from December to March for the upcoming school year beginning in August.

Once the teaching position is offered and accepted, the offer becomes a binding agreement.

A formal contract will follow, though it may take time due to the processing of visas and work permits by the Malaysian Government. Until then, the initial offer of intent serves as the binding agreement.

Candidates who successfully secure a role must arrive in Malaysia before July 2nd to qualify for the local tax rate of 12-14%, which will apply from the first paycheck.

Arrivals after July 2nd will incur a higher tax rate of 30% until December, though you may apply for a tax refund later.

a) Salary

M’KIS provides a competitive and well-structured salary package designed to comfortably cover living expenses in Malaysia.

b) Employee Provident Fund (EPF)

A significant benefit for expatriate teachers in Malaysia is the Employee Provident Fund (EPF), a retirement savings scheme designed to help build substantial long-term savings through contributions from both the employee and the school.

M’KIS contributes an additional 12% of your salary directly to your EPF account, which is non-taxable. Teachers contribute 11% of their base salary, which is taxable, ensuring these funds grow tax-free within the EPF account.  This money grows annually and is withdrawn when the teacher stops working in Malaysia and leaves the country.

c) Housing

Upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur, M’KIS will provide hotel accommodation for up to 14 days to allow teachers adequate time to search for housing, with many estate agents ready to assist.

The teacher will be given a Relocation Allowance of RM3,500.00 at the commencement of the initial Employment Contract with the M’KIS.

As part of a typical housing rental agreement in Malaysia, the following rental deposits are necessary:

(i) Two months’ rent as Security Deposit

(ii) Half a month’s rent as Utilities Deposit (water and electricity)

(iii) One month’s rent as Advance Rental

d) Healthcare

All teachers are covered for hospitalization including surgery and clinic outpatient visits.
