U-11 Girls Soccer Team Does M'KIS Proud
(March 22, 2013)
A new trophy has appeared in the M’KIS trophy cabinet thanks to the drive, talent and team spirit of the U-11 Girls’ Soccer Squad. Unbeaten in their friendlies this season, the girls’ team was one of 12 competing at the annual tournament hosted by Alice Smith School at Equine Park this past Saturday. M’KIS battled under relentless sunshine through five group matches to gain a place in the semi-final against KLASS 1 without conceding a single goal. After a nail-biting 12 minutes, which resulted in a nil-all draw, a penalty shootout saw the girls triumph 2-0, earning a place in the final against GIS 1. An early goal put M’KIS in the lead but ultimately GIS 1 claimed the top spot, scoring two goals, making the final score 2-1.
Congratulations to the MKIS U-11 Girls’ Soccer team! Not only did the team bring home silver medals and the runner-up trophy, but they also displayed exemplary sportsmanship, commitment and enthusiasm throughout the season. Thank you Anna, Bente, Brooke, Ella, Erin, Georgia, Jaden, Jimena, Kristine, Ria, Sarah, Sophie, and Coach Gilbertson; you’ve made your school very proud!

This past weekend our M’KIS student athletes made us proud once again as our Girl’s Touch, Boy’s Basketball, Girl’s Basketball, Boy’s Tennis and Girl’s Tennis teams competed in the SEASAC Championships. Most our teams competed at venues in Bangkok except for our Girl’s Tennis Team which competed right here in Kuala Lumpur. Based on all the reports I received and the Girl’s Tennis team matches my wife and I observed, our students accounted for themselves very well. The final results were:
Girl's Touch - 2nd place
Boy's Basketball - 4th place (improvement form 6th place last year)
Girl's Basketball - 12th place
Boy's Tennis - 7th place & winners of the Sportsmanship Trophy

Basketball Battleground 2012
(December 14, 2012)
This past Saturday, December 8, the M’KIS Varsity Basketball team and Westport (KL) Dragons faced-off for an exciting afternoon of basketball. All through the game, the M’KIS fans cheered on our Tigers as they played with all their might and skills against the professional Dragons. Despite the size difference, the Tigers managed to get in many of their shots, hustled, and played good defense. The third quarter featured our coaches and dads against the towering Dragons. Believe it or not, they still, "got game". It will be a game not soon to be forgotten.
During the game, we were treated to many amazing shots by the Dragons, including a backwards dunk shot. After the game, the Dragons greeted the M’KIS fans, signed autographs, and took photos. At the end of the afternoon, the entire Dragon team and the M’KIS Varsity team and coaches took one final picture as a lasting memory of a fantastic afternoon.
We want to thank the Varsity Basketball team and coaches for the courage to take on such an opponent. You all did us proud!! Also, hats off the coaches and dads for playing in the third quarter. You continued to keep the game exciting. A big thank you to Colleen, Chelsea, Ann, Carrie and Tenley for providing refreshments, and to our DJ and MC, Mike Harting. Great Job!
Finally, many thanks to all the M’KIS fans who came to support our Varsity Basketball Team. You really showed your Tiger Pride!! Go Tigers!!!

Great performance by MKIS figure skater at the Asian Junior Figure Skating Challenge
Olivia H. represented Malaysia in one of the major figure skating competitions in Asia - the annual Asian Junior Figure Skating Challenge; first part organized in Bangkok from May 15-17 and now in Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong, October 3-5, 2012.
In Hong Kong, Olivia was among five (5) skaters from Malaysia competing with skaters from all over Asia: Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and India. Olivia did a short program and a free skating program with professional judges evaluating the performance based on skating skills, transitions, performance/execution and interpretation.
Olivia is very dedicated in developing her figure skating skills and is practicing four to five days a week with a Swiss coach (a former world championships and Olympic Games participant from Switzerland). Even though the competition is fierce, Olivia performed very well and had her best score ever in Hong Kong. She left Hong Kong with many new experiences and highly motivated to continue developing for her next competition; Malaysia Nationals in 2013!
Well done Olivia!
