Novel Knockout
(May 10, 2013)

Congratulations to all the students who competed in last Friday’s Novel Knockout. Rina, Paola, Bali, Savio, Jane, Sanskruti, Bali and Anna went on to the KL Novel Knockout completion on Thursday of this week. They represented the school well, and came in tied in third place. Thanks to Ms. Amy Sholdt for coaching this group and to the Grade 4 teachers.


National Chinese Honor Society New Inductees

M’KIS National Chinese Honor Society (NCHS) is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a High School student. NCHS strives to recognize students who excel in all areas. The selection of the members are based on the following criteria: academic achievement of 3.25 unweighted cumulative average, attained B or better in Mandarin for three (3) consecutive semesters,  leadership, service and character.

On Thursday April 25, eight (8) new members will be officially inducted.  They are Ga-Eun S., Nitin P., Yuzu I., Sua P., Eun Byeol L., Christopher D., Mira Mohd I. and Haruka H. Congratulations to the successful new members.

As of today there are a total of eleven members in the NCHS. These students not only excel in learning Mandarin as a second language, but also embrace the international mindedness by promoting Chinese cultures. They are the ambassadors for the Chinese language and culture at M'KIS.


Accolade for M'KIS Faculty Member

Mr. Ghazaryan has recently been selected by the International Baccalaureate Organization to be a workshop facilitator for the International Baccalaureate program to train teachers in IB pedagogy and philosophy.  Quite a feather in Norayr’s cap and once again indicative of the quality of our faculty.  Congratulations, Noraryr!


5th International School Math Quiz

This week three students from Grade 5 participated in an International Math Quiz. The competition aims to sharpen oral mental math skills, develop confidence and raise the profile of Numeracy in schools. Congratulations to Airi, Tris, and Michael. Also, thank you to Ms.Gilbertson for supervising this group.


We Are So Very Proud of Our Senior Class

University and college acceptances, including scholarship money, continue apace for this year’s Senior Class. The quality schools to which our students have been accepted continues to read like a Who’s Who of universities and colleges worldwide.  These acceptances are of course testament to the fine quality of our students but the acceptances speak loudly to the quality of programming at M’KIS.

M'KIS Senior Receives Economics Program Recognition

Devyani G., one of our many outstanding Grade 12 students, has recently been recognized by the Foundation for Teaching Economics for her participation and achievement last summer in their Economics for Leaders program at the University of California. Devyani was awarded a very nice certificate of achievement for her participation and excellent performance on the program’s concluding economics examination.
