Learning Assistance Services

Students with mild learning disabilities, physiological conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, significant lags in an academic skill area, or other circumstance that results in the need for regular weekly support are supported through the auspices of our Learning Assistance program for grades 1-12.

This support can take the form of regular instructional periods, monitoring support, diagnostic academic assessment, and/or consultation. An Individual Student Support Plan will be developed for all students who have been identified via educational and/or medical evaluation as needing regular support. This plan will be supervised by one of our three Learning Assistance specialists.

At the elementary level only, Learning Assistance teachers are also able to provide short-term support for small groups of students within a grade level when their case loads permit. These students will be selected by the homeroom teachers according to specific assessment data. The short-term groups may provide additional remedial or enrichment activities depending on the selected area of focus.
