Welcome to Mont'Kiara International School, a community embracing multicultural values and responsibilities.
Our mission states that we are:
"...committed to enhancing the creative, social, emotional, and academic talents of the individual child by providing a world-class education within a compassionate environment. As lifelong learners, our students will acquire the skills and attitudes necessary to be caring, independent, productive, and responsible citizens ready to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world."
At M'KIS, we take this charge seriously. We have established a set of five Expected Schoolwide Learning Results, referred to as ESLRs, as the heart of our school community. In order to be " caring, independent, productive, and responsible citizens," our curriculum is focused on providing students with learning experiences enabling them to become:
- Academic Achievers,
- Critical Thinkers,
- Effective Communicators,
- Involved Citizens; and
- Self - Directed Learners
We are dedicated to provide engaging and meaningful learning opportunities based on U.S. and international standards and “best practices.” We encourage our students to share their accomplishments through participation in Student-Led conferences and the sharing of portfolios in grades KP - 8. Students in grades 6-12 learn about Malaysia first hand through 3-day Malaysian Studies excursions to sites in the country that provide valuable support to specific content objectives.
M'KIS offers both a world-class academic curriculum and an extremely active and engaging program of sport, clubs, student leadership roles, environmental clubs, performing arts, and community service organizations. In addition to the very rich U.S. Diploma program offered at M'KIS, our students have the option of electing to participate in the internationally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) program.
We offer a dynamic and exciting co-curricular program of activities that includes the South East Asian Student Activity Conference (SEASAC) for sports and cultural competitions, Model United Nations, Malaysian Studies excursions in the Middle School and High School, and an extensive array of intramural sports and clubs in our After School Activities (ASA) programs.
Our diverse student body is matched by the vast international experience of our faculty. They are a highly qualified, talented, dynamic, and highly motivated group of educators who are committed to the spirit of internationalism and global understanding. Many of them have Masters degrees and they are all committed to a personal professional development program that aims to keep them at the forefront of their area of expertise.
Whether engaged in learning in classrooms, representing our school at other school-related events and competitions in the region, or presenting a portfolio of their own work to parents, teachers and peers, our students embody characteristics described in our mission statement. We welcome your family to come and visit our learning community to experience the richness and depth Mont'Kiara International School has to offer. We can assure you that you will feel the friendly atmosphere.
