Madeleine Children's Fund MCF

Madeleine Children's Fund (MCF) is a charity established by parents at Mont'Kiara International School, M'KIS, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. MCF is part of the Parent Association.

We raise money for children with cancer in Malaysia. The fund benefits pediatric cancer patients in Malaysia by helping financially. By helping these children, MCF can hope that they will live more comfortable lives as cancer cures are being researched.

Madeleine was the daughter of a Swedish couple, Eva and Jan Sjonell, and she had a younger brother David. Madeleine was a Kindergarten student at M'KIS year 1998-2000.

When she was just 5 years old, Madeleine suddenly developed a squint in one eye. It proved to be a fatal brain stem tumor. One year later, on 26 August 2000, after intensive treatment in Sweden, Malaysia and the United States, little Madeleine passed away.

She is forever six years old.

This disease, or similar, can attack a child at any time and life is not to be taken for granted.

Shortly after Madeleine's passing her mother Eva Sjonell together with a few other mothers from school formed MCF.
