I am delighted to share that M’KIS has received a 6-year accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and a 5-year authorization from the International Baccalaureate (IB) – the highest possible outcomes from both organizations!
This reaccreditation and reauthorization also has special meaning as M’KIS celebrates its 30th Anniversary.
WASC and IB’s recognition of M’KIS comes after an extensive review and accreditation cycle, which included a visit from the two organizations in November 2024. During their visit, IB and WASC met with M’KIS students, parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and Board members.
The visiting teams highlighted many areas where M’KIS excels, including:
High academic expectations and achievement.
High level of relevant, authentic, and experiential learning.
Commitment to developing personalized pathways for learning.
High level of community spirit and engagement.
Opportunities for student engagement in curricular and co-curricular activities foster student leadership and agency.
Caring, empathetic, approachable, and involved teachers and administrators.
Happy, confident, and inclusive students.
Over the next five years, we have set three goals to ensure our school continues to be at the cutting edge of international school education. First, we will continue strengthening our vibrant and connected school community. Second, we will continue to optimize and refine school systems. Finally, we will continue to inspire and empower every student so they thrive right here at M’KIS.
I am proud of the collective effort that made this reaccreditation possible. The dedication, professionalism, and passion of our Administrators, staff, teachers, parents, and students continue to make M’KIS a school of choice.
