THIMUN – “The Best Week of MY Life”
(February 3, 2012)
‘The best week of my life’ is how one student described his THIMUN experience. Nineteen MUN students spent five days in The Hague with 3,500 students from around the world debating solutions to current global issues.

Once again our Student Officers were outstanding in their roles at the conference. They received many compliments from THIMUN Board members, MUN Directors and delegates for their knowledge of procedure, correct parliamentary language and professionalism. Nina K. was particularly outstanding in her role as President of the General Assembly. At the opening and closing ceremonies she spoke with clarity and poise and held the attention of thousands of students. Other members of the delegation also stood out due to their thorough preparation, analytical skills, persuasive speaking and diplomatic manner. It was wonderful to see our students shine in such an environment.

The delegation consisted of:
Student Officers: Nina K., Devyani G., Adam U.
Judges on the International Court of Justice: Kim H., Linus W.
Experts on the Advisory Panel: Young Choi, Reshma R. ,Arthur S.
Delegates: Sala N. (Ambassador), Max A., Robbie A., Josh B., Peak Sen, Apurva G.

The Model United Nations News Just Keeps Getting Better
(October 7, 2011)
Nina K. has been appointed as President of the General Assembly for THIMUN (The Hague Model United Nations) 2012. She is now officially one of the best High School MUNers in the world. Nina has been appointed to the highest MUN position anyone can achieve living outside of The Hague. Nina will be presiding over the opening ceremony involving the honorable Patron of THIMUN, HRH Princess Mabel van Oranje, the esteemed guest speaker and ambassadors from 193 countries. There will also be 2000 students and directors in the audience. She will be chairing the General Assembly plenary for four hours, which involves debate among 1200 students. She will also be presiding over the closing ceremony. Well done Nina – you are indeed a credit to yourself, to your family, and to the school.

Other excellent THIMUN news includes the selection of Devyani G. as President of the Advisory Panel for the THIMUN Conference. This is an outstanding achievement for a Grade 11 student; she has reached the highest position possible in her selected area of MUN, and at the world’s largest conference nonetheless.

Also, Adam U. has been appointed Deputy Chair of General Assembly 5 – another excellent appointment.

Congratulations must also go to three of our Grade10 students – Arthur S., Reshma R., and Young Choi who have been selected to be panelists on the Advisory Panel.

Ms. Shepherd has indeed done fine work in preparing these students, and our entire MUN Club for the accolades they have achieved.
